Juan “Money” Hazard, 42, of Cranston, Rhode Island, was sentenced in Hartford federal court to 60 months in prison, followed by four years of supervised release, for trafficking fentanyl in Connecticut.
On April 26, 2017, Hazard agreed to meet with a man in Ledyard to conduct a drug trade. Investigators targeting him stopped his vehicle, and Hazard was arrested after police found a wooden box with three shrink-wrapped packages in the back of the vehicle with approximately 338 grams of fentanyl.
U.S. Attorney John Durham noted that at the time of his arrest, Hazards young child was in the backseat.
Hazard has been detained since his federal arrest on May 4 last year. On Sept. 17 last year, he pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl.
